Andrea Scherler

is currently a senior at the Ohio State University majoring in industrial engineering and getting a minor in dance where she is a member of The Club Dance Team which recently received 8th place at nationals. She started dancing at the age of two at Art in Motion Dance Center in the Cleveland area and has studied ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and pointe. Andrea has competed regionally and nationally for 13 years and has attended many workshops and master classes such as the Pulse, Rockettes' Summer Intensive and Jayson Michaels Energy Source. She is happy to be starting her third year at Bartelt Dancers!​


Judy Spring

has been dancing since the age of five. She studied locally with Jacquie Hardy Wright, Jimmy Rawlins, Jorg Fasting, Dorie Cooper, and various other choreographers across the country. She has taught for Ballet Met, choreographed for Vaud-villities and Cedar point, and has locally and nationally recognized choreography. Many of her former students have professional careers in dance. "My greatest joy is teaching. I love the simplicity that preschoolers bring to my life. I love my advance dancers who challenge me to always be better than I was the last time!"


Misty Nichols

​was a competitive cheerleader for 7 years. After high school Misty continued her career as a college cheerleader for Wittenberg University, where she received her bachelors degree in political science. Throughout her 5 years of coaching tumbling, she has worked with many different ages and levels. Additionally, Misty was a competitive cheerleading coach for two years. She is USASF certified in levels one through 3 in tumbling and stunting. Misty is extremely excited and eager to begin her new journey as a tumbling instructor with Bartelt Dancers.


​Amie McQuirt
started her dance journey at the age of 3 at Judy Dollenmayer Studio of Dance in Gahanna, OH. During her time there she was on the competition line. She attended Gahanna Lincoln High School and was apart of the Gahanna Lionettes Dance Team for 2 years. She then continued her journey after high school assistant teaching at Judy Dollenmayer Studio of Dance for four years. She taught all ages and focused on Jazz and Hip Hop. "Seeing the children's faces light up when they do their first recital is truly heart warming and there is no other feeling in the world as great as that."   


Nicole Episcopo

has been dancing since she was three years old! She is trained in the styles of tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, modern and improvisation techniques, and was a competitive dancer in grade school from age 7 until she graduated from Nordonia High School in Cleveland in 2014, and The Element Dance Company! Nicole taught and assisted classes during her high school years, and self choreographed her solos. She now attends The Ohio State University studying Zoology with a specialization in aquatic science, with a minor in dance! She says that dance has been her most effective form of expression for her entire life, and she is so excited to be able to share that with young dancers as they discover their passion for movement!


Whitney Keck
Whitney Keck is a new member to the Bartelt teaching staff, but not new to the Bartelt family. Whitney has been dancing with the Bartelt adult ballet class for the last six seasons. During the day, Whitney works as a Middle School Art Teacher in Dublin. Whitney is excited that her 'second position' will be teaching ballet to new group of dancers!


KAYLA KULWICKI

has been dancing for 14 years, 4 of them right here at Bartelt Dancers! She is so excited to rejoin her Bartelt family as staff this year instead of student. Dance is more than just Kayla's passion, it is her purpose, and she wants to help others discover their passion for dance!

Kate Huntley

is experienced in child development and education. She continues to take dance classes, and pursue dance education in and outside of the studio. She loves music and dance. Kate danced as a youngster and brings her love of movement to her early movement exploration and dance classes. In addition to teaching, Kate loves being involved in all facets of studio life. Starting her third year behind the Bartelt Dancers front desk, and her second year teaching, Kate has finally found her home!


Betsy Ireson

is enjoying her fifteenth year as Bartelt Dancers' front desk manager!


Morgan Lapinski

is very excited to be part of the Bartelt faculty! She began her dance training at the age of 5 with Judy Dollenmayer Studio of Dance in Gahanna, OH. During her time at the studio, she and her team achieved national grand championships two consecutive years running. Morgan continued her education at Fort Hayes Career Center, where she was selected for the pre-professional dance program. At Fort Hayes, Morgan experimented more with choreography, while also focusing on the technical aspect and anatomy of dance. Morgan hopes her experience and training will help inspire kids to love the art of dance as much as she does! 


Vanessa Phillips

started dance at the age of 3 in the northeastern Pennsylvania area at the Joan Harris Centre for Gifted and Talented. While going to pharmacy school in Pennsylvania she spent her free time teaching Ballet, Tap and Jazz to ages 3 - adult at the Joan Harris Centre. Vanessa graduated with her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Wilkes University in 2005. Since than she has been a practicing pharmacist in Pennsylvania, Texas and now Ohio. Currently she is a clinical pharmacist for the Medication Management Program at The Ohio State University. Vanessa is married to her husband, Eli, and they have a son and daughter. Vanessa is excited to be teaching dance again and delighted to be part of the Bartelt Family. 


Tammy Plaxico

is an MFA graduate (1998) in dance from the University of Iowa.  In addition, she holds a complete Pilates certification as well as the 200-hour yoga certification.  She loves working with a variety of ages, techniques, and styles while teaching at Bartelt Dancers, Otterbein University, Ballet Met, The Yoga Factory, and with private clients.  Her favorite focus is helping students understand the dynamics of the human body and how to apply that knowledge to movement study.


Miranda Ross

has been dancing since the age of ten when she decided to trade in her gymnastics leotards for tap shoes and ballet slippers. She is currently a student at the Ohio State University studying Finance. Some of Miranda’s dance career highlights include being a Dupree
Dance 2012 “All-Star” scholarship recipient and winning their national solo competition in 2012. Miranda has been trained in tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary through her studio training and countless conventions and intensives across the country. Miranda is overjoyed to be furthering her dancing career with Bartelt Dancers and is very grateful for the opportunity.

Kathy Bartelt

is the artistic director and studio owner of Bartelt Dancers. She has been teaching in the Columbus area for over 25 years and has a BFA in Dance with a minor in child development from Texas Christian University. She danced two years with the Fort Worth Ballet and with Third Street Moving Company. Kathy has taught for OSU Continuing Education, Fort Hayes Career Center, and currently teaches ballet, modern, and dance history at Otterbein University. Kathy has produced nationally recognized choreography, taught students for Rhythmic Jr. Olympics and has several former students as professional dancers and more pursuing professional dance careers. "My greatest joy is watching students faces when they know they have achieved that new dance step."

Chelsea Crabtree

is a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago where she obtained her BA in Dance with an emphasis on Choreography and Teaching. Chelsea trained in many styles including Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Ballet, Creative Movement, and Contact Improvisation. She is the Creative Movement/Dance Instructor for the charter school, A+ Children's Academy in Columbus Ohio. Chelsea is extremely excited to start her fifth year at Bartelt Dancers.


Claire Cressman

is a sophomore at The Ohio State University studying middle childhood education, and working towards attaining a minor in dance. She danced at Art In Motion Dance Center in Medina, Ohio for 15 years where she studied tap, ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. In her time there, she competed and had opportunities of being a protégé for Cathy Roe’s Ultimate Dance Competition, dancing for Encore DCS’s opening number, and participating in Ticket to Broadway’s Circle of Stars. She is looking forward to the new season at Bartelt Dancers!
